How An Idea Became a Mission

How It Started

Group of women posing in front of a balloon arch at an indoor event.

Short history of how the Constitution Project began with the 2023 Fashion Show.

The Essay Contest Idea

Close-up of the U.S. Constitution's preamble with a quill and American flag.

How we formed and organized the Essay Contest Committee, came up with the prompt for the first essay, and went to the community for funding and support.

The Fashion Show & Dinners

In 2022 it involved organizing downtown Boutiques who wanted to participate - The decoration committee's fabulous ideas - selling tickets for dinner and raising money from donations of businesses and individuals supporters.; In 2023, the big event was a magnificent dinner, with an unbelievable number of donated baskets full of treasures and treats for the Silent Auction, and a table full of Raffle prizes that had guests standing in line to buy tickets.

Our 2024 Essay Goal

Three women smiling, one holding a Redwood Foundation certificate.

How we decided to expand on the essay, ultimately awarding $12,000 in all  to 3 essay winners. Working again with Redwood Education Foundation to make the entire process smooth and easy on our part,  ramping up the dinner event to include Silent Auction Baskets and wildly popular Raffle items,
